Develop confidence and skill as a new driver through discussions of driving related topics such as orientation to the vehicle, traffic laws, street driving, and vehicle efficiency. This course is designed to meet the requirements for driver education instruction as defined by the Alabama Department of Education, including Boating Safety.

The course combines classroom instruction with group and individual driving experience in an attempt to prepare students for the driver's test and the road ahead.

Each student will be given homework, outside video viewing, and research assignments in an attempt to best accommodate everyone's schedule. Driving times will be determined at the first class meeting. Each student will complete a performance-based evaluation of basic driving in a dual control vehicle. Practice sessions will be scheduled so that each student is given individual as well as group instruction in the vehicle. Students should bring a copy of the Alabama Driver's Manual to all class meetings.

Parents are encouraged to attend the first class meeting for a brief overview of the course. Students must be at least 15 and have a valid learner's permit. For specific drive times and dates, please call our office at (334) 844-5100.
