Collage Workshop and Studio Experience with Billy Renkl

OLLI at Auburn welcomes visiting artist Billy Renkl for a week-long collage workshop experience presented in partnership with the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities, the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University, the Alice M. Leahy Memorial Endowment Fund for Excellence, and Auburn University's Department of Art and Art History.
Working in a studio setting, participants will investigate collage as a creative practice through hands-on exploration of composition, materials, texture, and visual storytelling. Guided instruction, independent studio time, and group discussion will provide opportunities to develop skills, experiment with techniques, and create original work.
Workshop Schedule
Monday & Tuesday | 9:00 AM–11:00 AM and 1:00 PM–3:30 PM
Thursday & Friday | 9:00 AM–11:00 AM and 1:00 PM–3:30 PM
Billy Renkl is a Birmingham, Alabama, native who earned a BFA from Auburn University and an MFA from the University of South Carolina. He teaches drawing and illustration at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. His artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is included in the permanent collections of the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the Tennessee State Museum. His illustration clients include Southwest Airlines, Vanderbilt University, and Strategy & Business.
