Step into the daily world of the Civil War soldier in this engaging, hands-on workshop. Drawing on over 20 years of experience teaching U.S. history and 30 years as a Civil War reenactor, Virgil Moon brings history to life through stories, visuals, and artifacts.
Participants will explore what life was like for the ordinary soldier, including camp routines, food, shelter, equipment, and the realities of combat. A guided PowerPoint presentation will provide historical context, while a display table will feature reproduction and original items from the period. Attendees will have the opportunity to view and handle select artifacts, offering a tangible connection to the past.
About the Instructor:
Virgil Moon is an Auburn alumnus who taught U.S. history for 23 years and has participated in Civil War reenactments for over 30 years.
