An In-Depth Survey of Seven Great Films: Discussion

This discussion-based course offers an opportunity to explore seven exceptional films in depth, focusing on their themes, artistic qualities, and cultural impact. Each session examines one of the films featured in the companion An In-Depth Survey of Seven Great Films: Film Screenings course, though participants are welcome to register for either class independently. Discussions will emphasize storytelling, visual style, editing, and directorial choices, as well as the historical and social context surrounding each film. The course encourages thoughtful dialogue and personal reflection while deepening participants’ understanding of cinema as an art form.
About the Instructor:
Tim Arnold graduated with an engineering degree from Auburn University in 1994 and later transitioned to a 15-year career in Hollywood. He worked primarily as a video editor and also gained experience in writing, directing, and producing. During his career, he contributed to numerous short films and independent features and now enjoys sharing his passion for the art and craft of filmmaking.
