Each week examines a different film with a lecture focused on the creators, the position of the selected film within their career timeline, and the film’s significance in contemporary culture and film history. Emphasis will be placed on the artistic qualities of the film, including its writing, cinematography, editing, and directing. The curated list of films will include drama, comedy, and documentary, featuring selections from classics, contemporaries, and lesser-known independent works.

Note: The Film Screenings course may be taken on its own or alongside Monday’s discussion class for a deeper, more immersive appreciation of visual storytelling.

About the Instructor:
Tim Arnold graduated with an engineering degree from Auburn University in 1994 and later transitioned to a 15-year career in Hollywood. He worked primarily as a video editor and also gained experience in writing, directing, and producing. During his career, he contributed to numerous short films and independent features and now enjoys sharing his passion for the art and craft of filmmaking.
