Sketchnoting: A Visual Note-Taking Workshop

Sketchnoting, also known as visual note-taking, is a creative method for capturing ideas through a combination of words and simple drawings. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the basic elements of sketchnoting, including lettering, frames, icons, and stick-figure people. The session will conclude with short activities to apply these building blocks and strengthen visual thinking skills.
Participants should bring plain paper and a few pens or markers.
About the Instructor:
Verena Paepcke-Hjeltness is an Associate Professor of Industrial Design at Auburn University. She has worked in both Germany and the United States as an industrial designer with a focus on aviation and transportation design. Her research explores visual note-taking as a pathway to learning and creative confidence. As a visual strategist, she frequently facilitates retreats and workshops on design thinking and strategic planning.
