Come learn the musical traditions of the Indian subcontinent. The basis of all classical music in India is a system of Ragas (melodic scales) and Talas (rhythmic patterns). In this class, you will learn these important fundamentals of Indian music and be able to perform simple compositions at the end of the semester. The class will be mainly vocal with instrumental options. The ensemble uses authentic Indian instruments - harmonium, tanpura, tabla, veena and sitar are incorporated into various classical and semi-classical compositions.

If you are looking for a fun learning opportunity, this is it. If you play the flute, acoustic guitar, or any other instrument, please bring it with you to class.
