Create It! Sewing for Kids: Ages 6-9

In this "Create It!" course, students will learn the basics of hand sewing and artistic creativity in their work. In the first session, Students will design their own buddy (stuffed animal) to sew, stuff, and accessorize. They will use embroidery thread, scissors, and hot glue (cool temperature). In our second session, students will design and sew a blue jean bag. They will use needle, thread, scissors, and hot glue (cool temperature). In the final session, students will complete their blue jean bag and accessorize it. We will also learn the art of making bead bracelets. Not only will students learn new skills, but they will come home with exciting projects.

Suggested Prerequisites
No sewing experience necessary! Please be able to demonstrate the ability to listen and
follow directions.

Learning Objectives
The students will use critical thinking skills in their quest to design a Hobo Bag. The
students will be able to create stitches by hand and with the use of a sewing machine.
They will be able to demonstrate how to sew with a sewing machine. They will also be
able to design, draw, and create a Hobo Bag. They will be able to create a beaded
bracelet.
