Basic Handgun Safety

Schedule: Class meets on Tuesday 3/18 and Thursday 3/20 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and at the range on Saturday 3/22 from 8AM-11AM Fee covers hearing protection, eye protection, and range costs. Location: The Tuesday and Thursday sessions will be held at the Lee County Sheriff's Office, W.S. Jones Center, at 1900 Fredrick Road in Opelika. The location for the range session on Saturday will be provided during class. If you are considering a firearm purchase, information on permits will be provided as part of the course. Those who do not have firearms are not required to purchase them before the class. Information about purchasing these items, including a discussion of the type of handgun for your particular needs, will be provided. For those participants who already have purchased a handgun, they will need to bring a modern handgun (inside a carrying case) in good working order to the first meeting. DO NOT bring any ammunition until the various types have been discussed in class. If you already have a firearm, you will need a permit. [Information about getting a permit may be obtained from the Lee County Sheriff's Office.] Withdrawals & Refunds: If you are unable to attend a course for which you have registered, we ask that you notify the Office of Professional & Continuing Education (fax, or in writing/email) no later than three business days prior to the beginning of the course.
