Develop confidence and skill as a new driver through discussions of driving related topics such as orientation to the vehicle, traffic laws, street driving, and vehicle efficiency. This course is designed to meet the requirements for driver education instruction as defined by the Alabama Department of Education. The course combines classroom instruction with small group driving experience in an attempt to prepare students for the driver's test and the road ahead. Parents are encouraged to attend the first class meeting for a brief overview of the course. Students must be at least 15 and have a valid learner's permit. Parent/Guardian Parking Info for the classroom session:
The recommended parking for the Monday classroom session is street parking along South College Street. The classroom is located at 135 South College Street (OD Smith Hall) and the classroom is located on the 3rd floor conference room. This street parking is not enforced until 9 AM. Parents who are staying for the entire class session will want to go feed the meter by 9 AM to prevent ticketing from City of Auburn. Parking was previously annouced as behind OD Smith hall at time of enrollment, but this lot is very likely to be full by 730 AM.
For students who are driving themselves to class:
The ONLY approved parking availble is located at the Auburn University B-zone on Gay Street. The physical address for this lot is 260 South Gay Street. It is located between 2 northcutt reality properties (The Main Office + Garden Court)
If you have not responded to the email with the license plate information request, you will likely get ticketed, and our office has no ability to get a ticket thrown out. Please email lipscmh@auburn.edu or call 334-844-3100 with your license plate information and vehicle make/model if you need to park on campus for class or the driving session. It is a short walk to OD Smith from this lot.

MANDATORY CLASSROOM SESSIONS (1) - will be held during the following dates and times:
Monday, June 12th from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM
DRIVING SESSIONS:
Students must be available to drive at an assigned time on ANY of the days listed and students must drive a minimum of two times to complete the program and receive the certificate. The schedule for driving times will be based, to the extent possible, on each individual's availability. Students must have flexibility in scheduling. A 3rd driving time may be offered by the instructor at the instructor's discretion for a student who needs more practice.

There will be two blocks of outside research projects due by the end of the course. All assignments must be completed during the course session for which they are registered. Parents are encouraged to attend the first class meeting when the instructor will go over the driving times and will hand out Hold Harmless forms. (Parents are not required to stay for the whole session.)

Location & Directions:
The conference room (Room 328) in O.D. Smith Hall (135 South College Street) is located on the third floor. Everyone must enter the back door and walk up one half flight of steps to get the elevator to the third floor, or you can walk all the way. If you are entering O. D. Smith Hall from South College Street, enter the building through the door located at the top of the handicapped access ramp. Turn right and go down the hall to take the elevator to the third floor. Exit the elevator and take a right. Room 328 (conference room) will be at the end of the hall.

Hold Harmless Forms:
All participants will be required to sign a hold harmless from before the driving portion of class.
Withdrawals & Refunds:
If you are unable to attend a course for which you have registered, we ask that you notify the Office of Professional & Continuing Education (fax, or in writing/email) no later than three business days prior to the beginning of the course. A full refund minus a $20 administrative charge, is given when cancellation is made three business days prior to the first scheduled session; no refund thereafter.
