The Intensive Economic Development Training Course is an annual two-week course presented by the Government & Economic Development Institute (GEDI).

The course is divided into two one-week sessions and introduces participants to all phases of economic development. Program leaders and faculty have proven success in economic development practices and techniques. Instructors represent the field’s most effective practitioners from throughout the state and nation.

The first week of the Intensive Course is accredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and fulfills one of the prerequisites for those who wish to take the exam for the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation. It provides an intensive overview of general economic development concepts and principles.

The second week focuses on important issues and resources and is especially valuable to economic developers and community leaders practicing in Alabama.

Thank you for your enrollment in Session One of the 2022 Intensive Economic Development Training Course, which will be held on Monday-Friday, July 11-15, 2022 at The Hotel at Auburn University at 241 S College Street in Auburn, Alabama. The first week of the Intensive Course is accredited by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and fulfills one of the prerequisites for those who wish to take the exam for the Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation. We are also making available during this Intensive Course a copy of the IEDC textbook "Introduction to Economic Development" for $35.00. If you have not already placed your order for this book, please reply to this email to add it to your order and we will adjust your invoice for the amount due. Or you can call our office to add the order and pay with a credit card. Your course registration fee also includes automatic enrollment in Session Two, scheduled to be held Monday-Thursday, September 12-15, 2022 in Auburn. An email confirmation and information for Session Two will be sent to you later in the summer, at which time you can confirm your plans to attend. (NOTE: If you have already completed the second session in a prior year, we will not enroll you in the September 2021 Session.) ACCOMMODATIONS: Participants are responsible for their own hotel accommodations. The room block is at The Hotel at Auburn University. Please go to our website and click on the links to book your hotel room reservations. Or refer to the attached information sheet for information. Hotel rooms book up quickly so you are advised to book your rooms early. REGISTRATION/REFUND RULE: Provided that space is available, receipt of your registration form, email or online enrollment constitutes registration. NOTE: The University will not refund for check payments unless the agency is a registered vendor of the University. Written cancellations, received fifteen (15) working prior to the beginning of the program will be honored with a partial refund of the registration fee, but will be assessed a $50 administrative charge. Due to commitments to instructors and meeting facilities, late cancellations or non-attendance will not be refunded, and full payment is required.
