This course will provide a knowledge foundation of OSHA and the exemptions for local governments. Participants will investigate areas of safety and liability concern for local governments, discuss the importance of safety policy and implementation of such policies and discuss ways to improve the safety culture. This is one of five courses in the AAPPA Risk Management Certification Program, and meets 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p,m. on the day of the course offering.

If you are taking this course to earn certification in either the Risk Management Certification Program or in the AAPPA HR or Specialist Certification Program, you must take and pass the exam. If you are already certified in either AAPPA or Payroll Specialist, AND you are only taking this course for CE hours in either of those programs, then you do not need to take the exam. If you are already certified as a Risk Management Specialist with AAPPA, you can only repeat this course every five (5) years for CE hours, and do not need to retake the exam. This course may count simultaneously for all three certification programs (AAPPA HR or Specialist, ACPS, ACRMS).

This class will begin Friday, October 14th at 9:00 AM and conclude at 4:30 PM at the Center for Advance Science, Innovation and Commerce Building, located in the in the AU Research Park on 559 DeVall Drive in Auburn, AL. There is plenty of parking available at this facility. Please refer to the attachments for directions, additional course information and hotel room block information. Refund and Cancellation Policy: Your registration is CONFIRMED, and payment is requested before the course start date unless you make prior arrangements. Payment can be made by credit card by calling our office, or invoices will be sent. Written cancellations received fifteen (15) working days prior to the beginning of the course start date (on or before September 23rd) will be honored with a partial refund, but will be assessed a $50 administrative processing fee. Due to commitments to instructors and meeting facilities, late cancellations or non-attendance will not be refunded and payment is due in full. Substitutions for registered participants may be made at any time. The Center for Advanced Science, Innovation and Commerce (CASIC) is located in the AU Research Park on 559 DeVall Drive, Auburn, AL. From College Street, turn onto Donahue Drive towards campus. Take the first left road and the CASIC building will be on your left. There is plenty of parking at this facility.
