This course focuses on the process, procedures, and responsibilities for administration of Alabama's property tax system. It is based on the CODE OF ALABAMA and emphasis is placed on documentation, valuation, and assessment of real and personal property and the process of collecting property taxes. The responsibilities and deadlines for the assessor, collector and revenue commissioner are emphasized.Prerequisite: Introduction to Property Tax Administration or 3 years of experience in a property tax office. This class meets Monday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM; Tuesday-Thursday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM; and Friday, 8:00 AM-12:00 PM.

The class is being held at the Hoover City Hall Training Room, 100 Municipal Lane, Hoover, AL 35216. NOTE: Introduction to Property Tax Administration is a pre-requisite course, or 3 years experience in the property tax office. If you have not taken this course or if you do NOT meet the experience requirement, please call our office within 5 business days to cancel without penalty. This class will begin Monday, August 28 at 8:30 AM and conclude on Friday, September 1 at 12:00 Noon at the Hoover City Hall Training Room, 3rd Floor directly off the lobby, 100 Municipal Lane, Hoover, AL 35216. There is parking at this facility in the adjacent lot. Overflow parking is welcome at the Public Library next door. Please refer to the attachments for additional course and hotel information, including a list of supplies you will need to bring to class. Refund and Cancellation Policy: Your registration is CONFIRMED, and payment is requested before the course start date unless you make prior arrangements. Payment can be made by credit card by calling our office, or invoices will be sent. NOTE: The University will not refund for check payments unless the agency is a registered vendor of the University. Written or email cancellations received 15 working days prior to the beginning of the class (on or before August 7) will be honored with a partial refund (credit card only) of the registration fee, less an assessed administrative fee ($50). Late cancellations or non-attendance are non-refundable, and payment is expected in full. Substitutions can be made at any time.
