This course explores the ethical and legal responsibilities associated with management in the public sector, with an emphasis on such responsibilities in Alabama. Participants will be introduced to State ethics laws and rules, examining tools and practices to build and expand on high-performing ethical organizations. Sessions will also identify real-world ethical tensions from the field for class discussion and problem-solving.

Presented by the Government & Economic Development Institute (GEDI) at Auburn University, the Alabama City County Management Association’s (ACCMA) “Laws and Ethics for Public Management” course, a component of the ACCMA Local Government Professional Management Certification Program, will be held December 14-15, 2023, in Suite A of the Auburn Center for Developing Industries (ACDI), which is located at 1500 Pumphrey Avenue, Auburn, AL 36832. Additionally, the course will be hosted online for remote participation. The course’s sessions will take place from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM on Thursday, December 14, and continue from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, December 15.
