A fundamental responsibility of the public personnel administrator is to ensure compliance of the governmental entity with the numerous laws and regulations affecting human resource administration in the public sector. This course provides the legal context, history and emerging legal trends for practicing public personnel administration. The course includes discussion and application of such laws as the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Equal Pay Act, and Age discrimination in Employment Act.

This class will begin Thursday, November 17th at 8:00 AM and conclude on Friday, November 18th at 5:00 PM at the CASIC Building 1st Floor Training Room (Center for Advance Science, Innovation and Commerce Building), at 559 DeVall Drive in Auburn, Alabama. There is plenty of parking available at this facility. Please refer to the attachments for additional course information and hotel room block information. NOTE: If you are certified with AAPPA, you do not have to sit for the exam. Also, if you are certified as a Payroll Specialist or Risk Management Specialist, you do not have to sit for the exam. The exam is only required for those who are working towards AAPPA certification. Refund and Cancellation Policy: Your registration is CONFIRMED, and payment is requested before the course start date unless you make prior arrangements. Payment can be made by credit card by calling our office, or invoices will be sent. Written or email cancellations received 15 working days (on or before October 28th) prior to the beginning of the class will be honored with a refund of the registration fee, less an assessed administrative fee ($50). Late cancellations or non-attendance are non-refundable, and payment is expected in full. Substitutions can be made at any time. The Center for Advanced Science, Innovation and Commerce (CASIC) is located in the AU Research Park on 559 DeVall Drive, Auburn, AL. From College Street, turn onto Donahue Drive towards campus. Take the first left road and the CASIC building will be on your left. There is plenty of parking at this facility.
